The Mobile Museum of Art's Home School Art School course consists of 16 two-hour classes for three age groups (4 to 6; 7 to10; 11 and up) and are held every other week with a choice of Wednesday or Thursday sessions. The cost is $75 for the first student; $15 for each additional sibling. Art supplies are included.
Basic elements of art – color, line and shape – are explored through hands-on art activities that relate core curriculum subjects to studio art and art appreciation.
Classes reinforce basic elements of art, while introducing a variety of mediums and artistic techniques to create original pieces of art. Studio art classes incorporate art history and core curriculum subjects in each lesson plan.
Through an in-depth study of art history, curriculum-based studio art classes introduce more sophisticated principles of art, while students create original art pieces.
